Report: Red Sox’ catcher Kevin Plawecki and two staff members test positive for COVID-19

The Red Sox will play the final game of their four game series with the Minnesota Twins on Monday. Boston will playing on Patriot’s Day, the game coincides with the Boston Marathon. According to a report from MassLive’s Chris Cotillo, the Red Sox are dealing with some COVID-19 issues.
Cotillo reported that backup catcher Kevin Plawecki left Fenway Park in street clothes after testing positive for COVID-19. The team will call up catcher Connor Wong from Triple-A Worcester.
In addition, Cotillo is reporting two staff members have also tested positive for COVID-19.
Joon Lee of ESPN is reporting that Plawecki is vaccinated. It’s unknown as of who the two staff members are that have also tested positive.
Last season the Red Sox dealt with a COVID-19 issue that spread through their clubhouse. Numerous Red Sox players dealt with the COVID-19 outbreak in the clubhouse, including Xander Bogaerts. Fans will recall that Bogaerts was removed in the middle of a game against the Rays after learning he tested positive for the virus.
Wong played six games with the club last season hitting .308 with four hits including one double and an RBI.
