Red Sox vs. Tigers: Chris Sale makes spring debut, lineup
The first pitch will be thrown at 1:05 p.m. ET and the game can be seen on NESN and heard on 850 WEEI AM.
Sale will take the hill for Boston for the first time since his start in New York last season. During that game, the left handed hurler took at line drive direct hit to his throwing hand. Ultimately he broke his left pinky finger.
There was speculation that Sale would return in 2022, that was squashed when he broke his wrist riding his back a few weeks later.
Monday’s start against the Tigers is the first step in Sale’s road to consistent starts for the Red Sox in 2023.
Red Sox lineup versus the Tigers:
The Red Sox are expected to also feature the following pitchers in addition to Sale:
RHP Ryan Brasier
RHP Taylor Broadway
RHP Zack Kelly
RHP Jake Faria
RHP Durbin Feltman
RHP Norwith Gudiño
The Red Sox remain undefeated this spring sitting at 6-0. Detroit is .500 out of the gate. Sale will look to keep the Tigers hitters off balance, while coming away from the game with a clean and healthy start.
