Red Sox vs. Marlins: Corey Kluber makes spring debut, Bobby Dalbec bats third, lineup
Corey Kluber is set to make his spring training debut with the Red Sox on Tuesday night against the Marlins. First pitch will be thrown 6:40 p.m. E.T.
The game will take place at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, Florida.
Kluber signed with the Red Sox back in December to a one-year deal with a club option for 2024. The 13-year veteran made 31 starts for the Rays last season, his most since 2018 when he made 33 for Cleveland.
Red Sox manager Alex Cora has been impressed by his new right-hander.
“It’s about preparation with him,” manager Alex Cora said. “What you see on TV is what you get, too. He’s very structured in his work. He’s very quiet. But when he talks, you listen.
“It’s similar to [former Sox reliever] Adam Ottavino a couple of years ago, getting used to the environment, getting used to the guys. There’s a lot of knowledge. He pitched well last year for the Rays and we expect him to do the same thing. I know he’s excited for the opportunity.”
Rob Refsnyder: ‘Wow, a team has put a little bit of confidence in you. You better work your (expletive) off’
