Red Sox trade Easton McGee to the Mariners
The Red Sox and Mariners completed a minor trade on Wednesday. Boston will send righty Easton McGee to Seattle in exchange for cash considerations.
The 24-year-old was claimed off waivers from the Rays back at the beginning of October.
McGee made his major league debut against the Astros on October 2nd in Houston.
He went 3 innings, allowing one unearned run, four hits and no walks while striking out one.
The Rays originally selected McGee in the fourth round of the 2016 amateur draft out of Hopkinsville High School. He elected to forgo his commitment to the University of Kentucky and signed with the Rays for $673,700.
McGee will turn 25 this December, he heads to the Mariners with club control and he has three minor-league option years remaining.
Boston will free up a 40-man roster spot with the transaction.
