Red Sox trade Connor Seabold to the Rockies
Connor Seabold has a new home for the 2023 season. Less than a week after being designated for assignment by the Red Sox, the club traded Seabold to the Rockies for a player to be named later or cash, per MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand.

Seabold was initially designated for assignment to make room for new right-hander Corey Kluber.
The Laguna Hills, Calif. native was acquired with Nick Pivetta during the COVID-shortened 2020 season. Boston sent Heath Hembree and Brandon Workman to the Phillies.
Over the last two seasons, Seabold made six starts and owns a 10.55 ERA while allowing 25 earned runs in 21 1/3 innings. While pitching with Triple-A Worcester the last two seasons, he posted a 3.50 ERA in 2021 and a 3.32 ERA in 2022.
Injuries have been an issue for Seabold the last couple of seasons, he dealt with a right forearm extensor strain last season.
The 26-year-old will provide depth for the Rockies and could vie for a rotation spot for the club this spring. The Rockies will be without Antonio Senzatela to begin the new season due to an ACL tear last year.
Seabold has one minor league option remaining in the event he does not make the Rockies big league roster.
