Mata made seven starts for the WooSox this season and went 0-3 with a 5.61 ERA. Walks were a big issue for the 24-year-old before the injury, as he issued 27 walks in 25.2 innings of work. The strikeout numbers were still up as he punched out 26 batters in that same time span.

As a current 40-man roster, the promotion would be an easy one. One thing to consider, he is out of options so once he is up with the big league club, he would have to be placed on waivers if he is sent back down.
