Red Sox sign right-hander Darin Gillies to minor league deal, invite to Spring Training
The Red Sox announced they have signed right-hander Darin Gillies to a minor league deal with an invite to Spring Training on Sunday. Due to Gillies being a minor league free agent, he was eligible to be signed during the ongoing MLB lockout.
Gillies spent seven seasons in the Seattle Mariners minor league system. Last season, he spent time between Double-A Arkansas and Triple-A Tacoma.

The 29-year-old right-hander went 5-0 with a 2.80 ERA in 40 appearances in 2021. He also led Seattle minor leaguers in saves with 10, converting all eligible opportunities. Gillies was voted a Double-A All-Star after posting a 1.93 ERA with Arkansas last season.
The New Red Sox reliever was selected by the Mariners in the 10th round of the 2015 MLB Draft. The California native has a career 22-13 record with a 3.96 ERA in 215 minor league appearances while making eight starts.
