Red Sox sign free agent righty Jake Faria to a minors pact
The Red Sox signed free agent right-hander Jake Faria to a minor league deal, per Chris Cotillo of MassLive.
The deal will include an invitation to Spring Training camp, and a guaranteed $735K salary if Faria makes the Red Sox roster.
Faria spent last season with the Diamondbacks pitching in 23 games. He posted a 5.51 ERA, making three starts, 32 strikeouts with a 1.59 WHIP over 32 2/3 innings.
Over the course of his career, Faria has spent parts of four big league seasons with the Rays, Brewers and Diamondbacks system.
Faria was drafted by the Rays in 10th round of the 2011 MLB Draft. He made his major league debut with Tampa Bay in 2017.
The 29-year-old primarily worked as a starter at Triple-A, level. He has mostly been utilized as a reliever in the majors since 2018. That gives the Red Sox a potential multi-inning reliever if he can win a job in the bullpen.
