Red Sox reportedly expressed interest in Pirates outfielder Bryan Reynolds
The Red Sox are going to be linked to numerous free agent names and possible trades all offseason. One name that the Red Sox have reportedly been connected to is Pirates outfielder Bryan Reynolds.
According to the Boston Globe’s Alex Speier, “The Sox are among many teams to express interest in Pirates outfielder Bryan Reynolds, as well as the Diamondbacks’ young outfield surplus, though the cost of either would be high.”
It should be noted that MLB Network’s Jon Morosi reported that Pittsburgh is not expected to trade the outfielder.

The 27-year-old’s name has come up numerous times the last couple of season’s in trade talks. Pittsburgh is not in a position to contend and could move Reynolds for top prospects.
Red Sox Hot Stove: Outfielder Michael Conforto an option in 2023?
Last season Reynolds batted .262, with 142 hits, 19 doubles, four triples, 27 homers, 67 RBIs, 125 wRC+ and an .807 OPS. The Baltimore native is currently the Pirates best offensive player.
Offensively Reynolds checks off a lot of boxes needed for the Red Sox lineup. Defensively he struggled last season posting a -7 OAA (outfield above average) and -14 DRS (defensive runs saved) both ranked in the bottom five.
If Boston were to trade for Reynolds he would come with club control through 2025. He is currently signed to a deal through 2023 and will be able to hit arbitration in 2024 and 2025. Pittsburgh thinks they’ll be able to contend before Reynolds will become a free agent.
