Red Sox re-sign recently non-tendered reliever to minor league deal
The Red Sox re-signed right-handed pitcher Wyatt Mills to a minor league deal, per the team’s transactions page. The new pact for Mills is a two-year, minors deal, per MassLive’s Chris Cotillo.
Mills was non-tendered by Boston after missing the entire season due to Tommy John surgery. He was the only player the Red Sox non-tendered.
The 28-year-old sidearmer looked strong during spring training until he was shut down due to a flexor injury. He only appeared in five spring training games before he was shut down with the arm injury.
Mills was placed on the 15-day IL prior to the start of the season but was later moved to the 60-day IL on April 16.
The Sox acquired Mills from the Royals for minor league righty Jacob Wallace on Dec. 16.
Mills, who will turn 29 in January, has one minor league option remaining and is not eligible for salary arbitration until 2026.
