Red Sox prospect Blaze Jordan hitting .400 since returning from the IL, extending his hitting streak to 19 games
Red Sox prospect Blaze Jordan returned off the injured list this week. The 21-year-old slugger went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer in the Sea Dogs 8-6 loss to Reading on Thursday night.
Jordan has played two games after missing the last month with a fractured finger. He is 4-for-10 with a homer, double, four RBI, and one stolen base over those games.
The Mississippi native is having a great year offensively for Double-A Portland batting .294/.347/.450 with three home runs, eight doubles, 20 RBI, 13 runs, six walks, and a .797 OPS over 28 games.
Earlier this season, Jordan was named the Eastern League Player of the Week in April. To earn the honors, he went 12-for-27 with four doubles and two homers in a six-game stretch.
Jordan dedicated the offseason to losing weight and getting more athletic. At the end of December 2023, Jordan shared on X that he had lost 24 pounds and was down to his goal of 205 pounds.
“Me and my family got some new land in Mississippi, and I built my own facility just for me,” Jordan said to Beyond the Monster in May. “I spent a ton of time working out there. One of the biggest changes I made was I started to cook every meal and watch what I eat, and now I eat super clean all year long.”
Jordan is currently regarded as the No. 19 prospect in the Red Sox system, according to SoxProspects.com. This is his first full season playing for the Sea Dogs. Following a midsummer promotion in 2023, Jordan played in 49 games for Portland, posting a .698 OPS.
