Red Sox promote outfield prospect Miguel Bleis to High-A Greenville
The Red Sox are promoting another top prospect within the system. Outfielder Miguel Bleis is being promoted to High-A Greenville from Single-A Salem, according to the Boston Globe’s Alex Speier.
The 20-year-old, who is currently ranked as the No. 5 prospect, per SoxProspects, is hitting .257 with four homers, 10 doubles, one triple, 24 runs, 22 RBI with 21 walks, 16 stolen bases, .746 OPS and 121 wRC+.
The five-tool athlete has made tremendous progress this season following his season-ending left shoulder surgery last year.
Bleis has missed time over the last eight games due to a tooth issue at the start of June. Once he returned to the lineup, Bleis extended his hitting streak to 16 games and his on-base streak to 25.
As noted by SoxProspects director of scouting Ian Cundall, Bleis has been hitting .307/.391/.475 with nine extra base hits, a 10.4% walk rate, and a 20.8% strikeout rare.
“He’s elevating the ball more and hitting the ball harder and more consistently in this stretch,” Cundall posted on X. “It will be interesting to see how he adjusts to off-speed in Greenville as he struggled against them in Salem.”
Bleis is the latest young, talented Red Sox prospect to get promoted in recent weeks. Boston promoted Nick Yorke to Triple-A Worcester last week, and he has been tearing the cover off the ball. Right-handed pitcher Luis Perales was promoted to Double-A Portland and looked good in his first outing before leaving in his last start with an injury.
