Red Sox place infielder Christian Arroyo on the injured list, recall Bobby Dalbec from the WooSox
The Red Sox made two roster moves on Sunday placing infielder Christian Arroyo on the 10-day injured list with a right hamstring injury. Boston recalled Bobby Dalbec from Triple-A Worcester to take his place on the 26-man roster.
Arroyo has been dealing with a nagging right hamstring injury for the last couple of weeks. He told reporters that he felt pain when rounding third during Saturday night’s game against the Phillies.
This season, Arroyo is batting .257, with 19 hits, one home run, 11 RBIs and a .295 on-base percentage.
The 27-year-old has been starting to heat up at the plate prior to landing on the injured list. He was batting .429 (9-for-21) with three extra base hits in his past eight games, including a two-run single in the Red Sox 7-4 win over the Phillies on Saturday night.
Dalbec returns to the Red Sox for his second stint with the team this season. While with the WooSox, he slashed .238/.374/.475.849 with four homers, five doubles, one triple, 15 runs, 15 RBIs, 14 walks and 38 strikeouts in 23 games.
