Red Sox pitching prospect undergoes Tommy John surgery; will miss 2024 season
Red Sox pitching prospect Taylor Broadway won’t be pitching in 2024 after undergoing Tommy John surgery on October 18th.
Broadway came over to the Red Sox organization after a 2022 trade deadline move for Jake Diekman from the White Sox. He finished the year in Portland and began 2023 with the WooSox on their opening day roster.
Red Sox lefty used pending free agency as his 'biggest driver' in 2023 season
With the end of the World Series near, we are about to enter a new stage of the offseason. Pending free agents will officially be off the rosters in the coming days after the final out is recorded, and that list will include Red Sox left-hander Brendan Nail.
The 26-year-old had an up-and-down first glimpse at the Triple-A level to begin 2023. He ended up pitching in 22 games for the WooSox before being sent back down to Portland where he pitched in 3 games before hitting the IL and being done for the season.
Broadway will be Rule 5 eligible next offseason and is under contract with the Red Sox until 2027.
