Red Sox pitcher Brendan Cellucci had ‘A lot of adrenaline pumping’ in save situation against Northeastern
Brendan Cellucci was on the mound in the top of the seventh inning in the Red Sox exhibition game against Northeastern. He was going for his first save since he was in his last year at Tulane back in 2019. I asked him how he felt in his first action of the year:
“It felt great. Definitely A lot of adrenaline pumping but just focused on pounding the zone. Great to have baseball back!”
The strike throwing has been the biggest issue so far in his young career. He has had his highest BB/9 and second highest during his past two seasons in Greenville.
Cellucci pitched a scoreless ninth and had a strikeout and gave up one hit. He appeared in 43 games for the Greenville Drive last season and was used more in a reliever role. He is projected to start the year in Portland’s bullpen following his late season call-up to AA in which he appeared in two games.
