Red Sox option Franchy Cordero back to Triple-A WooSox
Franchy Cordero’s stay with the Red Sox was brief. He was was called up to serve as the 27th-man on the roster for the Little League Classic in Williamsport, Pennsylvania on Sunday.
Cordero was optioned back to Triple-A Worcester while we were sleeping on Tuesday morning.
Cordero made an impact in the game from Williamsport but it wasn’t enough to lead the Red Sox to a victory.
The left-handed slugger made his first plate appearance since being demoted following the Eric Hosmer trade. Cordero would pinch-hit for Bobby Dalbec in the top of the eighth inning. He would crush a Dillion Tate sinker over the wall in left field.
In the two games leading up to his brief call up to the Red Sox, Cordero has been mashing for the WooSox. He has gone 6-for-9 with three homers, including a grand slam and nine RBIs.
