Red Sox minor league pitcher Starlin Santos suspended
Red Sox pitching prospect Starlin Santos has been suspended 60 games Friday under baseball’s minor league drug program.
Santos tested positive for the synthetic steroid Stanozolol.
The 20-year-old has been pitching for Red Sox in the Dominican Summer League.
#RedSox pitcher Starlin Santos, who is on the roster of the Dominican Summer League team, has received a 60-game suspension without pay from MLB after testing positive for Stanozolol, a performance-enhancing substance.
The Red Sox signed the left-handed hurler in December 2019 and he has appeared in 27 games, eight of them starts, over two DSL seasons.
Santos had a 3.76 ERA over two seasons and 83 2/3 innings pitched in the Dominican Summer League. Last season, he went 3-2 with a 3.82 ERA in 14 starts.
