Red Sox make a minor move, acquire outfielder Abraham Almonte
The Red Sox made a minor trade on Monday acquiring veteran outfielder Abraham Almonte.
Boston acquired Almonte from the Milwaukee Brewers for cash considerations. Almonte will report to Triple-A Worcester and provide organizational depth.
The 33-year-old outfielder is a nine year veteran having been with six different teams. Almonte has spent the entire season with the Brewers Triple-A affiliate hitting .293 average with 11 homers, 42 RBIs and a .913 OPS in 48 games.
Over the course of his big league career, Almonte owns a career slash line of .234/.302/.374 with 23 home runs, 116 RBIs, and 26 stolen bases over 440 total games.
The move provides depth for Triple-A Worcester who currently has seen Jarren Duran, Rob Refsnyder and Jaylin Davis on the major league roster.
