Red Sox lose another player to a hamstring injury
The Red Sox will be without another player due to a hamstring injury. Outfielder Wilyer Abreu ripped a ball down the first base line in bottom of the seventh inning. While running he began to hobble and was removed from the game.
Red Sox manager Alex Cora confirmed following the game, Abreu is dealing with a hamstring injury.
"He'll be out for a while," Alex Cora said, to Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe.
Abreu becomes the third Red Sox player to deal with a hamstring injury this week. Catcher Connor Wong and left-handed pitcher James Paxton are both hampered with a Grade 1 hamstring strain.
The Venezuelan native was having a good spring at the plate, hitting .333 with one homer and four RBIs in 12 at-bats. His lone home run this spring was a grand slam he hit during the 15-3 rout of the Phillies on Thursday.
