Red Sox in the mix for free agent outfielder Adam Duvall
The Red Sox are searching for more options to fill out the lineup in the wake of losing shortstop Trevor Story due to elbow surgery. One player the Red Sox are linked to is free agent outfielder Adam Duvall, per source.
Duvall makes sense for the Red Sox as he remains one of the top power bats on the free agent market. Boston is in need of another power bat after losing Story. The 34-year-old has a strong market and has offers from multiple teams, source confirmed.
If the Red Sox signed Duvall, he would play center field, Kiké Hernández would slide to the middle infield with a possible outside the organization addition. The Red Sox could consider free agents Elvis Andrus, José Iglesias or Josh Harrison.
Chief baseball Officer Chaim Bloom said on Tuesday after the club announced Corey Kluber, he intends to add to the roster.
“I would expect we’re going to add,” Bloom said Tuesday. “Frankly, that was my expectation even before this. Whether that’s through free agency or trade, I don’t know yet. What that looks like, who it is, obviously it’s something we were already actively discussing even before this. Now, we’re a man down so we’re going to have to fortify ourselves further.”
Last season, Duvall played in 86 hames for the Braves hitting .230 with a .247 on-base percentage with 61 hits, 12 homers, 36 RBIs, .465 slugging percentage and an 88 wRC+.
Duvall had a down year from his breakout 2021 season where he crushed 38 homers and drove in 113 RBIs. It should be noted that Kentucky native as shutdown in July due to having wrist surgery.
The Mets are another team to watch out for Duvall, per SNY’s Andy Martino. New York is also said to be linked to former Red Sox outfielder Tommy Pham.
