“(Craig) Breslow has been in advanced discussions with the Red Sox,“ reported Mooney. “Interviewing for their No. 1 job in baseball operations. That opportunity, however, comes with several complicating factors for any external candidate.”
Breslow has connections to New England and the Red Sox organization. The New Haven, Connecticut, native graduated from Yale and now resides in Newton.
Mooney also noted that Breslow was recruited to the Cubs by former president of baseball ops Theo Epstein in 2019.
While in his role with the Cubs, he’s helped revamp their pitching program. His main focus was the pitching infrastructure and assisting in evaluation of free agents targets and monitoring day-to-day operations for Chicago.
The report of Breslow in “advanced talks” comes on the heels of numerous candidates turning down opportunities to interview for the role.
