Red Sox hire an special advisor to chief baseball officer Craig Breslow, third major addition to pitching department
The Red Sox have made another significant addition to their pitching department.
The club is hiring Kyle Buddy, the founder of Driveline Baseball, as a special advisor to chief baseball officer Craig Breslow for the 2024 season.
Boddy confirmed on X, that he will join the Red Sox pitching department. He will focus on pitching research and development.
The 41-year-old, is the founder and owner of Driveline, a performance training system that has gained popularity in the baseball in over the years. Driveline operates in Washington state and focuses on biomechanics and pitching.
According to the company’s website, Driveline is the “premier data-driven baseball player development organization in the world” and trains players through “state-of-the-art motion capture assessments, physical therapy evaluations, and specialized assessment-retest based pitching, hitting and high performance coaching.”
Boddy has experience in Major League Baseball, working with the Reds as their minor league director of pitching initiatives and pitching coordinator from Oct. 2019 to Sept. 2021. He did not work or was affiliated with the Reds the last two seasons.
Boddy joins new pitching coach Andrew Bailey and new director of pitching Justin Willard in the attempt to revamp the Red Sox pitching program.
