Red Sox First-Rounder Mikey Romero Goes Deep for First Pro Home Run
When the Red Sox selected Mikey Romero with their first-round selection during the 2022 MLB Draft, the fans were questioning why the front office would draft another high school shortstop. Well, that answer was answered on Friday afternoon.
Romero, 18, was selected by the Sox at number 24 overall in the MLB Draft and was quickly assigned to the FCL Red Sox when he put pen to paper.
On Friday afternoon, against the FCL Twins, Romero hit his first career home run with the Red Sox.
It was a three-run shot and the only runs the FCL Red Sox would muster against the Twins in the clubs 4-3 loss.
Romero finished one-for-five with a run scored and three RBIs on the evening. He now has a batting average of .200 over 25 at-bats (seven games).
