Red Sox designate Ryan Brasier for assignment
The Red Sox designated right-handed reliever Ryan Brasier for assignment, according to MassLive’s Christoper Smith.
Brasier was informed following the Red Sox 9-1 loss to the Cardinals on Sunday night.
Boston needed to make a roster move to activate left-hander Joely Rodriguez off the injured list.
Rodriguez is expected to be activate before Monday’s game against the Mariners.
With Brasier gone, the Red Sox have only two players remaining with the club from the 2018 World Series team.
Brasier tossed 2 1/3 innings against the Cardinals, giving up four hits and three runs. Nolan Arenado launched a three-run homer off Brasier, it was his third home run of the series.
The 35-year-old posted a 7.20 ERA in 20 outings this season.
