Red Sox call up Triston Casas
The Red Sox will finally call up prized prospect Triston Casas from Triple-A Worcester. He will be added to the roster for Sunday’s game against the Rangers. The news was first announced by MassLive’s Chris Cotillo.
The Red Sox will option Bobby Dalbec to Triple-A Worcester.
Casas has hit .273 with 11 homers, 20 doubles and an .863 OPS in 72 games at Triple-A Worcester this season. He did not play on Saturday. WooSox manager Chad Tracy told Beyond the Monster following the game that he “wanted to keep him (Casas) fresh.”
The Red Sox finally demote Dalbec who has struggled this season. He’s batting just .211 with a .282 on-base percentage, .362 slugging percentage, .644 OPS, 11 homers, nine doubles, two triples, 38 runs, 36 RBIs in 111 games.
Casas who is ranked as the No. 28 prospect on Baseball America will get a few weeks to showcase his talent at the highest level.
