Red Sox add WooSox right-handed pitcher Norwith Gudiño
The Red Sox will add WooSox right-hander Norwith Gudiño as the 27th man on its roster for Game 2 of the doubleheader.
Gudiño joined the Sox organization this winter as a minor league free agent.
This season, the 27-year-old is 4-4 with a 5.54 ERA, 1.63 WHIP with 30 strikeouts in 20 games, making eight starts.
Gudiño has been used as a swing man for Chad Tracy this season.
He offers a three-pitch mix that consists of a four-seam fastball, a slider, and a splitter. Gudiño throws from a three-quarter arm slot, starting from the first base side of the pitching rubber.
His fastball sits at 92-94 mph and has fringe control of the pitch, per SoxProspects. Gudiño’s spitter plays much better than his four-seam heater.
A native of Puerto Cabello, Venezuela, Gudino was signed by San Francisco as an international free agent in 2014. He spent eight years in the Giants organization before joining the Red Sox.
