The Red Sox have announced they’ve acquired right-handed pitcher Taylor Broadway from the White Sox. The deal completes the Jake Diekman and Reese McGuire deal.
Broadway is 3-2 with a 5.02 ERA, 77 strikeouts, 1.50 WHIP in 52 innings of work this year. The 25-year-old has spent the entire season with the White Sox Double-A affiliate with the exception of three games.
He was selected in the sixth round during the 2021 MLB Draft. The University of Mississippi product yielded a 4.45 ERA, 12.80 strikeouts per 9.0 innings in 52 appearances. Broadway also pitched in JUCO with Tyler Junior College.
His former coach JUCO coach Doug Wren on Broadway after he was drafted, “It’s no surprise that he’ll get a chance to prove himself in professional baseball and we look forward to following his career in what we hope is a quick rise to the big leagues.”
At the time of the 2021 MLB Draft, Broadway was not ranked as one of the drafts top 250 prospects. He was ranked 368th by Baseball America.
Broadway will report to Double-A Portland.
