In part of the trade that sent Christian Vázquez to the Houston Astros in return for two prospects, Enmanuel Valdez and Wilyer Abreu, Valdez has quickly made his name known with the Red Sox fans.
Valdez, who ranks as the Red Sox 27th prospect according to MLB Pipeline has quickly produced for Triple-A Worcester.
Valdez, while with Houston this season prior to the trade was named Texas League Player of the week on May 25. During that week he went 10-for-27 where he racked up eight runs scored, three doubles, three home runs and eight RBIs.
Prior to being traded to the Red Sox, Valdez had hit 21 home runs with 77 RBIs while batting .327 between Double-A and Triple-A.
On Friday, August 12, Valdez hit two home runs for the WooSox where he finished the night going four-for-six with two home runs with six RBIs and three runs scored.
This is the fourth game this season where Enmanuel Valdez has hit two or more home runs in a game, his first time doing so with a Red Sox affiliate.
Valdez now has 29 home runs and 89 RBIs with an average of .323 on the season.
