Pavel Zacha recognized for his stellar play
Pavel Zacha is taking his game to another level as the playoffs inch closer. The 26-year-old has been a points machine lately and was rewarded for his efforts on Monday. Zacha was named the NHL’s Second Star of the Week for the week ending on March 10.
In four games last week, Zach scored five goals and dished out two assists. The former second-round pick started the week with a two-goal effort against Toronto before adding another goal to his resume against Edmonton. He added another two-goal effort to his stat sheet on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Penguins. As Zacha led the team in scoring, the Bruins posted a 3-0-1 record.
While Zacha was a human highlight reel, his production was no surprise. Through 62 games, the 2015 draftee ranks fourth on the team in points and assists. In his second season in the black and gold he has been one of the Bruins best players.
With only 15 games left in the regular season, the Bruins need Zacha to continue his recent play. On a team that has struggled with consistency the last few weeks, Zacha has been one of their few reliable players. His scoring tear has been a bonus.
Although Zacha’s focus will be on helping the Bruins secure a high playoff spot, he only needs four more goals to tie his total from last season. He could reach that mark by the end of the month.
Regardless of his final numbers, Zacha’s latest Second Star of the Week award provides a reminder of how valuable he is.
