Patriots Week 2 Saturday injury report
The Patriots are dealing with more injuries on the offensive line ahead of Sunday’s Week 2 match up against the Dolphins.
Several starters are listed as questionable ahead of the game:
Left tackle - Trent Brown (concussion)
Right tackle - Sidy Sow (concussion)
Left guard - Cole Strange (knee)
Right guard - Mike Onwenu (ankle)
Cornerback - Jonathan Jones (ankle)
Wide receiver - DeVante Parker (knee)
Onwenu, Strange and Parker were all listed as limited in practice.
Jones showed up on Friday’s injury report, it remains unknown his status for Sunday. If the Patriots No. 1 cornerback plays, he will have a tough matchup against Tyreek Hill.
New England usually matches up Jones against Hill when the two teams play. Jones has held Hill to seven catches on 16 targets for 88 yards.
“(Hill) has an incredible skill set,” Jones said to reporters on Wednesday. “It’s just one of those things with a guy like that - explosive. Any play - he can take a 3-yard pass and take it the distance. He keeps the defense on their toes every play.”
If Jones is out, the Patriots will rely on rookie corner back Christian Gonzalez, Marcus Jones, Myles Bryant, and Shaun Wade to shutdown Hill and other top target Jaylen Waddle.
With Brown and Sow unlikely to play Sunday, the Patriots will likely rely on a backup tackle Tyrone Wheatley Jr. who they acquired from the Browns or former Viking Vederian Lowe to start at tackle.
