Newsome was cut by the Bears earlier this week and will likely have additional suitors besides the Patriots.
The wide out was a sixth-round pick in the 2021 draft. He played in three games last season, catching two passes. Newsome has already visited with the Tennessee Titans.
The former North Carolina receiver is listed at 5-foot-10, 184 pounds was a second-team All-ACC player as a junior in 2019. He led the Tar Heels with 72 receptions for 1,018 yards and 10 touchdowns.
The Patriots are looking for additional depth at wide receiver following the loss of rookie receiver Tyquan Thornton during Week 2 of the preseason.
