Patriots sign QB Garrett Gilbert to practice squad
The New England Patriots are expected to sign 31-year-old Garrett Gilbert, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Bailey Zappe is the only quarterback on the roster and is expected to start Sunday against the Lions. However that can change depending the health of Jones and Hoyer.
Gilbert, was originally a sixth-round pick by the Rams in 2014. This will be his third stint with the Patriots.
His first stint came during the team’s run to Super Bowl XLIX in 2015, he was a member of the practice squad. The veteran then rejoined the Patriots practice squad for a period in 2021.
Gilbert’s last start came with the Washington Commanders last year in a game where he threw for 194 yards and no touchdowns.
To facilitate Gilbert on the practice squad, the team released wide receiver Laquon Treadwell.
