Patriots interviewed two more external candidates for OC position
The New England Patriots are in search for their next offensive coordinator. Head Coach Jerod Mayo continues to conduct interviews as he fills out his staff.
Two new name have surfaced as they have interviewed Texans quarterback coach Jerrod Johnson and Panthers offensive coordinator Thomas Brown. Both were reported by Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports.
Johnson is best known for his work with rookie of the year candidate CJ Stroud. Stroud not only lead Houston to the playoffs, but also threw for 4,108 yards with 23 touchdowns and only five interceptions.
Johnson, 35, has drawn interest from multiple teams. The Browns, Steelers, Eagles, and Saints have either interviewed or will be interviewing Johnson.
Brown, 37, fits the mold and possibly the offensive scheme they want to run. He is the third candidate, along with Nick Caley and Zac Robinson, that has worked for the Los Angeles Rams and has knowledge of the Sean McVay offense.
With the Rams, Brown was the running backs coach and then moved to tight ends coach. It is clear the Patriots are looking to implement or at least gain some knowledge of the McVay schemes.
