Patriots bring back Jabrill Peppers, tender Myles Bryant, sign offensive tackle
The Patriots have remained busy retaining their own in-house players over the course of the first two days of the legal tampering period.
On Tuesday, the Patriots re-signed safety Jabrill Peppers to a two-year deal, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
New England used Peppers all over the secondary last season, playing safety, slot, in the box and deep, he was used as jack-of-all-trades type of defender.
He appeared in all 17 games for New England last season, collecting 60 tackles. The Patriots value Peppers versatility in their secondary and helps keep continuity following Devin McCourty’s retirement.
Myles Bryant tendered
The Patriots have tendered cornerback Myles Bryant at the right of first refusal level.
Bryant who is a restricted free agent, can choose to sign with another team or play on a one-year, $2.6 million deal. New England reserves the right to match any deal or let him walk.
Bryant played in all 17 games last year, recording 70 tackles with an interception.
Calvin Anderson brings depth
The Patriot first external free agent signing was free agent tackle Calvin Anderson, to a two-year deal, per Mike Garafalo of NFL Network.
The 26-year-old will provide depth at the tackle position behind Trent Brown and Conor McDermott.
Anderson played with the Patriots in 2019 after signing as an undrafted free agent. Denver snagged him off waivers the same year and he played three seasons for the Broncos.
Following the announcement of Anderson coming to New England, he took to Twitter and shared a message with fans.
“To #PatsNation… I remember signing with you after the draft! Everything come full circle, and I can’t wait to give you everything I have and more. Not much for me to say, but a lot for me to do. Let’s work.”
