Patriots agree to terms with Browns free agent linebacker Sione Takitaki
The New England Patriots have agreed to terms with Cleveland Browns linebacker Sione Takitaki, per Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network.
Mark Daniels of MassLive adds that it is a two-year, $6.5 million deal that could end up being $10.3 million with incentives.
Takitaki, listed at 6-foot-1, 238 pounds, will take the place of Mack Wilson who signed with the Arizona Cardinals on Monday.
Last year, Takitaki made 65 tackles (15 games, seven starts) in a comeback season after tearing his ACL in 2022. Overall, in 72 career games (36 starts) he has totaled 269 tackles and 4 sacks.
The 28-year old was drafted in the third round of the 2019 draft, when Eliot Wolf was an assistant general manager with the Browns. Wolf is now running the front office for the Patriots.
The Patriots linebacker depth chart with Takitaki also includes Ja’Whaun Bentley, Jahlani Tavi, and Raekwon McMillan.
