Patrice Bergeron makes history in the Bruins win over Tampa Bay
Over the last 19 years, no player has been more important to the Boston Bruins than Patrice Bergeron. The former second-round pick has the climbed record books and compiled a list of accolades that goes on for pages. On Monday night, he continued to add to it.
With the Bruins holding a two-goal lead, Boston was not done scoring. Brad Marchand made it a 4-1 game with his sixth goal of the season. The assists went to Jake DeBrusk and Patrice Bergeron, who earned a unique place in Bruins history with his 1,000th career point.
Only three other players in franchise history have reached that mark. The list includes Ray Bourque, Johnny Bucyk, and Phil Esposito. The Bruins captain only needs 13 points to pass Esposito with more than fifty games left in the regular season.

While the season is far from over, Bergeron's importance to the Bruins organization was on full display last night. After he made history, the Quebec native was swarmed by his teammates. All eyes were on Bergeron as his teammates took a moment to celebrate what the franchise icon had accomplished.
As the 2022-2023 season continues, more milestones could be on the horizon. But for one night in what could be his final season, all eyes were on Bergeron as he joined a group that very few can they say are part of. Bourque, Bucyk, and Esposito all have their number hanging in the TD Garden rafters, where Bergeron’s is expected to be one day.
