Red Sox infielder Nick Sogard talks his big league promotion and how he learned he was going to the show. Sogard also talks about being sent back down and then being called up a second time and what he called his “worst defensive season” of his career.
“(Chad) Tracy had texted me and we were home in Worcester and I lived so close that it was really quick for me to get over to the stadium,” said Sogard. “He texted me like, hey, can you come in? We got to talk about some defensive positioning stuff. This was probably like an hour and a half before our report time. I thought that was kind of weird and I had played everywhere on the field. So unless this was going to be moving me to catcher, I didn't know like what this could be about.”
