Nick Foligno, Chris Wagner and Mike Reilly back practicing with the Bruins
Bruins wingers Nick Foligno, Chris Wagner and Mike Reilly are back at practice at Warrior Ice Arena on Monday. The three players were placed on waivers Sunday in the attempt for the team to get below the $82.5 million salary cap.
Foligno and Wagner have played well this preseason. It’s not shocking that the Bruins would try and see if a team would bite and claim Foligno and his $3.8 million salary.
Wagner has been a difference maker physically when on the ice. He led the Bruins with 21 hits this preseason and his coach has taken notice of his play.
“He provides a level of physicality. Everything’s to be determined though, like when we’re gonna finalize things over the next couple of days,” said Montgomery.
Foligno has also shown his physical presence on the ice. He finishing second on the team in preseason with 16 hits.
The Bruins waving Reilly was a surprise and he could still be claimed by another team needing a defenseman. With Charlie McAvoy and Matt Grzelcyk coming back in the coming weeks and months, Reilly is expendable.
The Bruins should he making a decision on defenseman Anton Stralman. The veteran is currently signed to a PTO contract. If Reilly does indeed leave the club, Stralman is the logical choice to fill his spot on the roster.
