Morgan Geekie proving to be a perfect fit with the Bruins
When the Bruins signed Morgan Geekie last offseason, they were getting a player coming off a career year. In his first year with the Bruins, he has continued to improve his game and has been a threat with the puck on his stick.
Through 52 games, the 25-year-old has recorded 26 points, only two short of tying his career high. He has also found the back of the net 10 times, a new career high. With Geekie in the lineup, the Bruins have had a reliable secondary scoring option.
Additionally, Geekie has thrived regardless of the situation. He has spent more time on the power play than ever before and rewarded the Bruins faith. He already has eight points on the man advantage. The former third-round pick entered the season with seven power-play points in his career.
While Geekie has thrived offensively, he has not been afraid of sacrificing his body. He has landed 81 hits and blocked 40 shots. His physical style of play has been a perfect fit in the Bruins system. That is one reason he has been hard to take out of the lineup.
Although the season is far from over, it has been hard to ignore the 2017 draftee's play. Whenever he is on the ice, good things tend to happen. The Bruins will need that trend to continue as the playoffs inch closer.
With 24 games left on the schedule, Geekie is on pace to set a few new career highs as he continues to show why the Bruins targeting him in free agency was one of their best moves.
