Mookie Betts and the Dodgers come to Fenway Park next season
Mookie Betts will be back at Fenway Park next season. Unfortunately it will be with the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers marking Betts first time back in Boston since his trade.
Betts and the Dodgers will play the Red Sox at Fenway Aug. 25-27, 2023.
The Red Sox traded Betts and David Price on Feb. 10, 2020 for Alex Verdugo, Jeter Downs and Connor Wong.
Betts was traded because the club was unable to sign the former homegrown talent to a long term deal. He would sign 12-year, $365-million contract with the Dodgers during summer training camp right before the pandemic-shortened 2020 season.
Red Sox fans have been very critical of the Betts trade and the return the team received back. The Betts trade has come up more in conversation by the media with the Red Sox currently sitting in last place in the American League East.
Betts is having a great season for the Dodgers. The 29-year-old Betts is hitting .273 with 118 hits, 26 doubles, two triples, 27 homers, 62 RBIs, 146 WRC+ and a .529 slugging percentage.
