On Friday night, Albert Pujols hit his 700th career home run in front of a capacity crowd in Los Angeles. The 42-year old crushed two homers at Dodger Stadium to become the fourth player all-time to reach the 700 club.
In the fourth inning, Pujols smashed a hanging slider from Dodgers righty Phil Bickford 389 feet into the left field seats.
"When it's really gonna hit me is when I'm done, at the end of the season, when I'm retired, and probably a moment or two after that I can look at the numbers.”
The 42-year-old Pujols now owns 700 career homers a feat he achieved in his final season. He now has 2,208 RBIs for his big league career, which is third all time behind Hank Aaron.
“What a special night,” said Pujols following the game. Pujols’ special night was predicated by MLB Network’s Greg Amsinger back in April.
On April 13th, Amsinger made a bold prediction that came true on Friday night.
"Albert is going to play more than people think," Amsinger said. "He is. He's a draw, and he's gonna be productive."
“He’s going to hit his 700th career home run on the road. Friday night in Los Angeles in September…”
Amsinger might have made the greatest sports prediction of all time.
