Miguel Bleis is one of the most exciting players in the Red Sox farm system
One Red Sox prospect fans have started to talk about more as of late has been Miguel Bleis. The 18-year-old is having a great second professional season in the Red Sox system.
Bleis could be a candidate to get promoted to the Salem Red Sox before the end of the month. A source has stated that Bleis could get promoted “really soon” but also didn’t rule out that Boston could leave him with the FCL Red Sox.
However the fact Bleis has missed time since Aug. 11 due to low back stiffness, his potential promotion could be delayed until next season.
He is currently batting .301 with five homers, four triples. 14 doubles with 27 RBIs and 18 stolen bags in 40 games with FCL.
Baseball America and MLB Pipeline rank Bleis as the No. 6 prospect within the organization.
“Bleis has the hands and wrists to generate outstanding bat speed and loud contact with atypical frequency at a young age. He often features a fairly significant leg kick in his load, but has the athleticism and balance to make it work. He'll also adjust his swing and approach from that power-generating load, showing the ability to make mechanical adjustments to create a solid hit tool. In the outfield, he glides to the ball with speed and routes that seem suited to sticking in center,” according to Baseball America.
According to Ian Cundall of SoxProspects, multiple scouts told him that Bleis is a “true five tool talent.”
“Multiple scouts have told me he’s easily the best player in the FCL and a true five tool talent,” Cundall tweeted.
Bleis will turn 19 next March and is already showing his is one of the premier prospects in the Red Sox system.
