Michael Wacha was good on Tuesday night, the offense struggled against the Reds
The Red Sox will look to salvage the two game series against the Reds on Wednesday night
The Red Sox offense picked a really bad time to go cold with the last place Orioles and Reds coming into town. On Monday, the Red Sox were shutout by Baltimore 10-0 in an albatross of a game. Orioles starter Tyler Wells completely overmatched the offense Monday and Reds starter Luis Castillo dominated on Tuesday.
Castillo tossed six innings while only surrendering one hit, no runs while striking out 10 Red Sox batters. On the flip side, Red Sox starter Michael Wacha was stellar as well but his offense let him down.

Wacha threw 5 2/3 innings giving up three hits, one run while striking out three. The veteran righty is made his second start since coming off the injured list. Despite his great stat line, Wacha picked up his first loss (3-1) on the 2022 season.
The 30-year-old hurler has exceeded expectations this season. He has only allowed two or fewer runs in seven out of the eight starts. Over this stretch, he has lowered his season numbers to a 2.43 ERA and 1.01 WHIP over 40.2 innings.
The offense on the flip side has been showing massive signs of life during the month of May. In fact they mashed during the first four games of the Orioles series this past weekend. However on Monday, the offense went silent.
Boston has only scored one run in two games and it comes at an inopportune time. The Red Sox struck out a season-high 15 times against the Reds. Castillo looked like a true ace on the mound against a potent American League lineup.
“This is a bad time for playing like this,” shortstop Xander Bogaerts said.
