Mayer pulled from Salem lineup due to back stiffness
Mayer was pulled from the first game of the double header for Low-A Salem
On Sunday, Marcelo Mayer, the Red Sox top prospect was pulled from the first game of double header for Low-A Salem.
After speculation about it possibly being another wrist injury it was later announced and confirmed that it was low back stiffness and he was pulled as a precaution.
From @keithlaw and me: Marcelo Mayer was pulled from the first game of Single-A Salem’s doubleheader today and he’s not in the lineup for the second game. Source says it was low back tightness and he was pulled as a precaution.
Mayer, who’s dealt with wrist soreness earlier in the year and made a full recovery now has to deal with this setback.
Mayer missed over a week due to the wrist injury.
This season Mayer has seven homers with 31 runs batted in with a .286 average in 192 at-bats.
