Marcelo Mayer has hit his third home run of the season, just two days after hitting his second home run.
All three of his home runs came against the Charleston RiverDogs, the Single-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays.
First home run, April 23.
Second home run, June 7.
Third home run, June 9.
Mayer is second on the club in batting average .311 over 115 plate appearances. His .910 OPS is also second best on the club.
After being out for an extended amount of time with a sore wrist, the top prospect in the Red Sox farm system is starting to find his groove at the plate for the Single-A Salem club.
Salem would attempt a late rally plating two runs in the ninth, but would fall against the steam rolling Charleston club, 10-5. Salem drops to 28-26 on the year while Charleston improves to 37-17.
The two clubs will square off again on Friday night for game three of the six-game series.
