There were a couple of bright spots for Salem, but then again there were a lot of not-so-good moments from their 10-6 loss against the Charleston RiverDogs.
The bright spots came from Boston Red Sox top prospect Marcelo Mayer as he got his first home run of the season on the eighth pitch of the at-bat that was middle in.
Here is where the pitch was tracked on K-Zone.
After battling off a couple of pitches he got the pitch that he wanted which was a fastball in his wheelhouse.
Mayer didn’t stop there though, as he would rip an RBI single to the left center gap, scoring one and moving a runner over to third.
Mayer went two-for-six with a HR, two RBI, and a run scored. He now has 10 RBI on the season.
There were roughly eight scouts in attendance to watch the RiverDogs and Red Sox with one name on their mind; Marcelo Mayer.
His fielding range is phenomenal and his throwing accuracy is on the button. If he doesn’t receive a promotion this year, look for him to get a strong push in 2023.
