Marcelo Mayer and Triston Casas land on the injured list
The Red Sox top two prospects ailing with injuries but should be back soon
Red Sox top prospects Marcelo Mayer and Triston Casas have both landed on the injured list.
Mayer will miss time due to a sore wrist. The young shortstop was in Boston for an MRI and it revealed he is dealing with a sprained wrist.
According to MassLive’s Christopher Smith, “there is no exact timetable for his return.” Smith went onto add that Mayer will be “starting baseball activity in the very near future.”
Back at the beginning of May, Beyond the Monster minor league writer James Gravley reported that Mayer had been experiencing a sore wrist. He would miss some time and was back on the field about 10 days later.
Mayer played four games since April 23 due to his wrist injury.
This season, Mayer is batting .333 with a .386 on-base percentage one homer, 10 doubles, nine runs and 13 RBIs in 17 games for Salem.
Triston Casas also on the injured list dealing with an ankle injury
Casas was placed on the injured list with an ankle injury and there is currently no timetable on his return to the WooSox lineup.
Casas has missed time since May 17 with his ankle injury. The Worcester first baseman is currently ranked the No. 2 Red Sox prospect. He is currently hitting .248/.359/.457 with 6 homers in 36 games for the WooSox.
Once Casas is cleared for baseball activities, it will not take long for him to return to the lineup.
