Luke Shliger added to Y-D roster
Maryland catcher joins Cole Carrigg, Fernando Gonzalez and Simon Reid behind the plate
Luke Shliger was activated by the Red Sox on Wednesday afternoon, according to the league’s transaction report.
The Danbury, Connecticut, native is coming off a stellar sophomore season at Maryland, where he hit .353 with 12 home runs and 58 RBIs in 62 games. He led the Big Ten in on-base percentage (.495), ranked second in runs (79) and ranked third in hits (88).
Shliger also earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors after big named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team in 2021.
Yarmouth-Dennis now has plenty of depth at catcher, with Cole Carrigg, Fernando Gonzalez and Simon Reid still listed as active. However, Carrigg has been utilized as an outfielder for the team’s first three games.
