Linus Ullmark scores for the Bruins
Ullmark on his goal: "It's hard to describe what I'm feeling right now..I have to digest it..I'm just so bloody happy."
Linus Ullmark scored a goal for the Bruins on Saturday night. His empty netter came at the tail end of the third period in the Bruins win over the Canucks.
Ullmark became the first goalie in Bruins history to score a goal. He was also the first goalie to score a goal since Pekka Rinne did it with the Nashville Predators in 2020, according to ESPN.
Ullmark’s first career goal came after the Canucks Connor Garland dumped the puck into the Bruins zone and it bounced off Brock Boeser’s stick. The puck landed to the side of the Boston net where Ullmark set and fired the puck down the center of the ice into the empty net.
“He decided to take matters into his own hands there at the end. It was incredible to see,” said Brad Marchand to NESN after the game. “It was a lot of fun to see. It just adds to a phenomenal year for [Linus Ullmark].”
Jim Montgomery on his goaltenders goal, "Really happy for him...he almost had one earlier in the year and at the Winter Classic..Swayman thought about it one game..it's good to have talented goaltenders."
The goal comes on the heels of Ullmark almost scoring during the Winter Classic at Fenway Park.
