Crawford has MLB experience with Boston as he’s appeared in nine games with a 1-2 record and a 10.00 ERA with 16 strikeouts over 12 and two thirds innings of work over his MLB career.
This year, with Boston, he appeared in eight games with a 1-1 record and a 8.44 ERA with 14 strikeouts over 10 and two thirds innings.
Mostly known as a reliever, the righty will be relied on to put in some overtime for the Red Sox on Sunday evening.
In four appearances for Worcester this year, Crawford has 11 strikeouts over 13 and a third of an inning of work. He owns a 7.43 ERA.
It’s uncertain on how long Crawford will be in the majors, but one thing is a given; having more pitching depth on the big league club couldn’t hurt. Hansel Robles once again blew a game for the Sox, and if everything adds up correctly, that’s his fourth blown save of the year and when that happens, Boston is 0-4 in those said games.
So, leaving Crawford in the majors could potentially be a blessing in disguise for the Red Sox.
